Tips and ideas for connecting parents, staff and babies through sound and song
Supporting families to connect through sounds and songs
Our goal is to support families in reconnecting with sounds that provide comfort for them during challenging times, and then share them to help connect with their baby. These sounds may include favourite songs or lullabies, prayers, recitations or just talking.
Why should staff get involved?
Parents will benefit from your support in becoming more aware of their experiences with making sound and in gaining confidence to use and express their own voice.
Wear the ‘Ask me’ badge
Show parents you’re open to chat about using sound and song. This can help by:
- Helping parents feel heard and connected to their baby
- Giving parents a simple, loving way to be present, even in difficult times
- Connecting baby to their wider family
- Helping parents build their relationship with you
